Meeting the Soldier
As many of you have heard, I had the pleasure of finally meeting the sweet gentleman whom wrote to my family during the time I was battling cancer while he was at war. Not only that, He also included a $50 donation! 24 years later & I was finally getting the opportunity to meet him as well as saying, "Thank You". Was completely not expecting WTVY, WDHN, & the Dothan Eagle to be present to record this special moment! It was truly amazing to see my hometown being so supportive for a special reunion. As soon as I greeted him at the door; emotions came pouring out of me. I had such a difficult time holding back tears, but sometimes you just don't know how much you can inspire someone until they tell you. To know that I was able to inspire not just any man, but a man that was fighting for our country was just indescribable.
n addition, he even did the same in return for my family. Needless to say, it was a wonderful reunion & I am so grateful that we found him! We discovered that we only lived an hour apart in Georgia so we plan to keep in contact from this point forward! Thank you to my family and friends for coming up with the idea to find him and for tracking him down! Also, thank you to WDHN, WTVY 4, & Dothan Eagle for taking time out to cover the story so we could share it with everyone! We hope this will encourage others to "Pay it Forward". -XO Kayla
